This race was crazy. There were 3 races 95k, 8k, and 15k). A total of 35,000 runners.  I ran the 15k (though my gps said 9.4 miles) with my wife, which was her first real race.  She killed it at a 7:53 pace.  Not too bad for her first go.

I was finally able to get a good run in this week. I ran a portion of Wildwood Trail in Forest Park here in Portland.  Wo was it muddy.  I was sliding all over the place.  Rain was coming down pretty hard too.  My overall time was at a 9:30 mile which is pretty good for the conditions, but I was able to post 2 miles at a 5:50 pace, which is encouraging.

Running is proving to be a challenge this time of the year.  Number one, the rain in Portland has gone from the point of incessant to obsurdity. And though I don't always mind a run in the rain, the clouds and darkness have become a debilitating psychological road block that only the sun can cure.  Today's trail run was a mud fest and hurt like hell, but this section of Wild Wood Trail in Forest Park has become my favorite.  4000 ft of total elevation gain and descent. However, the 2 hour round trip from my house - trail- my house is an annoyance to my family, who only gets to spend time with me for a total of 3 hours in the evening before bed times.  Maybe I need to invest in a very bright head lamp and run in the middle of the night.

Triathlon training starts Friday at the pool....god I hate the swim.
